Local-first. Runs on 127.0.0.1.

The coding agent
that stays home.

OpenSol works in the folder you already have. It reads and edits real files, runs your shell and git, and talks to the models you already pay for — through a local daemon that never forwards your keys anywhere.

Install with npm
npm install -g @bibobonking/opensol

Node.js 20 or newer. Then run opensol start --open.

Your folder

The daemon is scoped to the workspace you open. No upload step, no shadow copy.

Your keys

Provider and hosting tokens sit in an AES-256-GCM file on disk. The browser sees a hint.

Your machine

Requests go straight from the daemon to your provider. No OpenSoftX proxy, no telemetry.

Not a chat box
with a folder attached.

The loop, the tools and the storage live beside your project. What you see in the app is one view of the same real workspace your editor uses.

One daemon.
Five words.

The npm package ships the built app and the daemon. Start it once, then leave it running in the background. Click any command to copy it.

opensol — command line
First launch: pick a workspace, add one provider key, choose a live model.
3.1.3 current

Skills moved in, spend became visible, and deploys learned to read your project.

  • Skills, installed properly. Upload a skill folder or install an npm package. The procedure stays in your settings and the agent loads it with the new skill tool only when a task needs it — no built-ins shipped in the box.
  • Credits spent. The home dashboard shows what your providers actually reported across every model, with a dash when a provider hides cost instead of an invented price.
  • Deploy that reads the project. The Deploy panel detects framework, package manager, build command and output folder, explains failures in plain language and links the last deployment.
  • Prompts per session and workspace. A prompt button in the top bar switches between shared, workspace and session-only instructions; the most specific one wins.
  • No tool-round ceiling. The agent keeps calling tools until the job is done or you stop it, instead of pausing after a fixed number of rounds.
  • Colored file tree and a new mark. File icons carry their real color by type, and the solar aperture now runs through the app, the favicon and the desktop shell.
3.1.2 previous

MCP grew a real home, sessions learned where they belong, and the desktop shell arrived.

  • MCP panel + OAuth 2.1. Local, Streamable HTTP and legacy SSE servers, tool filters, JSON import and one-click authorization. Tokens stay in the encrypted store.
  • Sessions tab. Rename, retitle with AI or delete the conversations that started in this workspace.
  • Model Deck. A centered picker with a provider rail, live context bars and a draggable reasoning throttle.
  • OpenSol Desktop. A Tauri shell that uses the system webview on Linux, Windows and macOS.
  • Faster feedback. Edit diffs show added and removed lines with the start position; the undo bar totals the turn.
